Douglas M. Worman

Douglas M. Worman is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CNA Financial Corporation (CNA), one of the largest U.S. commercial property and casualty insurers providing a broad range of standard and specialized insurance products and services for businesses and professionals in the U.S., Canada and Europe.

The company was founded in 1897 and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Today, CNA generates over $15 billion in total revenue, backed by nearly $13 billion of total capital and $11 billion in statutory surplus.

Since joining CNA in 2017, Doug has shaped an underwriting strategy defined by discipline and consistent execution. He has fueled CNA's success through sharp underwriting acumen, a dedication to talent development and an unrelenting commitment to distribution partnerships.

Doug's purposeful approach to underwriting, keen ability to balance risk and profitability and commitment to operational excellence have been key drivers of the company's sustained profitability and strong financial position, as reflected in CNA's robust financial strength ratings.

In his prior role at CNA, Doug served as Executive Vice President and Global Head of Underwriting, where he led the strategy and underwriting direction of CNA's Property and Casualty operations worldwide. His responsibilities also included oversight of critical functions such as field operations, risk management, reinsurance, sales, distribution and marketing.

With more than 30 years of insurance and financial services experience, Doug is widely recognized as an insurance industry leader. Prior to his tenure at CNA, Doug was CEO of Endurance U.S. Insurance, where he oversaw risk management as well as a broad range of professional, casualty, property and specialty lines offered through the company's extensive producer network.

Doug also served as Executive Vice President at Alterra Capital Holdings and held other senior positions within Stone Point Capital portfolio companies.

Doug began his career at AIG, where he held several executive positions over 18 years, including President and Chief Executive Officer of AIG Excess Casualty Group, formerly known as American Home Assurance Company.

Doug serves on the Board of Directors of the American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) and on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. He also serves on the Board of Overseers for the Maurice R. Greenberg School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science at St. John's University and on the Industry Advisory Board for the Institute for Risk Management and Insurance Innovation (IRMII) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

He is an active member of the Flatirons Society at the University of Colorado and the Penn State Nittany Lion Club.
