CNA Touchstone Property™: Bringing Clarity, Flexibility and Consistency to Complex Property Programs

Commercial property risks are becoming increasingly complex as organizations face emerging threats, increased natural catastrophe exposures, business interruption concerns, changing valuations and more interconnected operations. At the same time, brokers and insureds need coverage that is clear, flexible and easy to navigate.

CNA Touchstone Property™ is our modern solution for delivering flexible and clear coverage that matters.

CNA Vice President and Structured Risk East Leader Christina Bentley discusses why CNA developed the updated offering, what distinguishes it in the marketplace and how it supports brokers and clients managing complex property risks.

1. What is CNA Touchstone Property, and what led CNA to update its property offering?

CNA Touchstone Property is a new admitted commercial property insurance solution designed to address evolving risks and facilitate fast quoting and consistent coverage outcomes. We developed the offering with a modern, streamlined form while preserving the flexibility brokers and insureds need to structure sophisticated property programs, setting a new standard in commercial property coverage.

It is designed for moderate to large organizations with complex operations and property portfolios that require both comprehensive coverage and the ability to tailor their programs.

2. What core coverage does CNA Touchstone Property provide?

CNA Touchstone Property provides traditional coverage for buildings and business personal property, as well as lost income and ongoing expenses when operations are disrupted by a covered event. It also includes a range of additional coverages that extend Property Damage and Time Element protection.

Brokers can select blanket limit options for both Property Damage and Business Income based on the insured’s portfolio and program structure. Business Income coverage can be written on either a Gross Earnings or Gross Profits basis, allowing the approach to reflect how the organization measures financial loss. The form also offers flexible deductible options, including specialized deductibles.

3. How does CNA Touchstone Property improve the experience for brokers?

Brokers need to provide tailored coverage options that address their clients’ individual needs and be able to clearly explain what a policy covers. CNA Touchstone Property is built around contract certainty, with concise and easy to understand coverage terms and flexible options from quoting to issuance. Policies are delivered at the time of binding where possible.

The form was developed by a collaborative team of underwriting, claims and product experts, making the form intuitive, easy to navigate and simple to explain. It will result in a more streamlined experience throughout the underwriting and claims adjustment process.

4. How does CNA Touchstone Property address evolving and emerging property risks?

CNA Touchstone Property was designed to address both physical property damage and the financial and operational consequences that can follow a covered event. The form includes coverage options that reflect emerging needs, such as crisis management, emergency evacuation expenses and the costs associated with building more sustainable properties. These capabilities allow brokers and insureds to structure coverage around the realities of how businesses operate today.

5. How do CNA's Risk Control and Claims capabilities, along with its catastrophe expertise, strengthen the offering?

The policy form is just one part of the solution. CNA Touchstone Property™ is supported by specialized property underwriters and technical experts who understand the challenges associated with complex property portfolios.

CNA’s catastrophe modeling, analytics and Risk Control capabilities help organizations evaluate exposures, identify vulnerabilities and make more informed risk-management decisions. When a loss occurs, CNA’s Claims professionals provide guidance throughout the claims process. Together, these capabilities support brokers and insureds throughout the placement and policy lifecycle, from understanding risk to navigating recovery.
