Wayne Kirkland serves as Vice President of Risk Control for CNA. In this role he is responsible for leading and advancing the Commercial property and casualty field risk control operations, specifically serving the north, south, and west portions of the U.S. Additionally, he is responsible for the coordination of risk control for CNA’s International business unit.
Wayne joined CNA in 2002 as a Risk Control Director for the Texas field operations. Prior to joining CNA in 2002, Wayne spent seven years as a loss prevention consultant and health & safety manager in monoline workers’ compensation for an insurance carrier and managing general underwriter, respectively. Over the previous eight years, Wayne initially developed his risk control career with a casualty insurer, progressing from field engineer to director of safety engineering services.
Wayne holds a bachelor’s of science degree in industrial engineering from Texas A&M University and currently serves on the industry advisory board for Texas A&M University, School of Public Health. He was a licensed professional industrial engineer in Texas for over 20 years.
Wayne maintains the following designations: Associate in Risk Management (ARM) conferred by the Insurance Information Institute; Green belt in Six Sigma and LEAN as conferred by the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers IISE); Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS) conferred by the International Risk Management Institute (IRMI); Recognized Risk Engineer (RRE) conferred by Underwriter Laboratories (UL); and Certified Walkway Auditor conferred by University of North Texas.
Wayne is a champion for the concrete contractors sub-segment, specifically engaged with the American Society of Concrete Contractors in safety and risk management. He also serves as an elder and musician for his local church.
