CNA Files Commercial Property Program Under California's Sustainable Insurance Strategy

Filing supports measured growth across selected commercial property segments in California

CHICAGO, Aug. 25, 2026 -- CNA Financial Corporation (NYSE: CNA) today announced that it has submitted a commercial property insurance filing in California under the state's Sustainable Insurance Strategy, established by Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara to address insurance availability and market stability.

Through the filing, CNA is participating in the state’s effort to increase insurance availability in areas where property coverage has become difficult to obtain, including higher-risk and underserved areas.

Under the filing, CNA has committed to support the goals of the regulation by making CNA Touchstone Property™ available across California, including in areas designated as distressed by the California Department of Insurance. All risks will remain subject to CNA’s established underwriting criteria, including risk selection and resilience considerations.

CNA Touchstone Property is designed for selected commercial segments, including commercial real estate, financial institutions, healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing, professional services, retail and technology. The company will continue to evaluate new and renewal business opportunities in the California market where commercial property capacity has become constrained.

“CNA supports efforts to strengthen the long-term stability of California’s commercial property insurance market, and our participation in the Sustainable Insurance Strategy reflects our intent to responsibly support insurance availability,” said Mike Nardiello, President, Global Property & Casualty, CNA. “Through Touchstone Property, we can provide brokers and businesses with a modern commercial property option while continuing to underwrite thoughtfully in a complex risk environment.”

The filing aligns with broader efforts by state regulators to support long-term market sustainability and preserve access to insurance for California businesses.

CNA expects to implement the filing following regulatory review and approval.
