
Mark leads the strategic implementation of CNA’s Enterprise Risk Management initiatives and the global ceded reinsurance strategy.
Mark is responsible for establishing and implementing an enterprise-wide view of acceptable risk levels. As a member of CNA’s executive leadership team, he focuses on measuring, monitoring and reporting regularly to the Audit Committee and Board of Directors on all material risk drivers in the business. As CRO, he oversees the use of CNA’s internal capital model, all third-party aggregation modeling applications related to catastrophe, terrorism, cyber, and casualty clash risks, as well as all risk and reporting functions including the annual ORSA and ESG reporting. He leads group ceded reinsurance to strategically reduce volatility in the commercial and specialty P&C portfolios on a global basis, while managing CNA’s multi-billion-dollar asset for reinsurance recoverable balances and legacy runoff portfolios.
He joined CNA in 2018, after serving as AIG - Deputy Head of Global Ceded Reinsurance. He also spent a significant tenure at Chubb Group, as Senior Vice President, Global Head of Ceded Reinsurance and Risk Management from 2003 to 2016. Mark began his career as a marine underwriting trainee with Chubb Group and held various underwriting management and marketing roles.
Mark holds a BA in Economics, and an MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.
