CNA earns perfect score of 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2017 Corporate Equality Index for second consecutive year.
For nearly 120 years, we’ve taken great pride in our commitment to give back to the diverse communities where we live and work. By focusing our resources, we have the power to make a real difference in the lives of many people. As we extend a helping hand, we grow stronger as a result. CNA is proud to play an active role in our communities throughout the year.
Chicago Charity Challenge Community Impact Award
CNA holds the Chicago Charity Challenge 2016 Community Impact Award for our philanthropic efforts throughout Chicagoland communities. The Challenge provides an opportunity for businesses to team up with nonprofits and contribute volunteer hours and monetary donations to those in need in Chicago.
We’re proud to receive the 2016 Chicago Charity Challenge Community Impact Award, which recognizes CNA employees for their volunteer efforts and donations, our Challenge partnership with Chicago Lights and our ties to several Chicagoland nonprofits and community organizations. During the challenge, our philanthropic efforts resulted in 5,000 volunteer hours and more than $1 million in donations to nonprofits supporting and enhancing the Chicago community that we’re proud to call home.
Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s 2017 Corporate Equality Index (CEI)
CNA is proud to have earned a perfect score of 100 percent on the HRC Foundation’s 2017 CEI, the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees.
With this perfect score comes the recognition of CNA as one of the “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality.” This achievement is led much in part by Pride@CNA, CNA’s employee network made up of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and straight ally employees who contribute to CNA’s success through the promotion of a positive and equal workplace environment for all CNA employees, regardless of gender, gender identity or sexual orientation. Businesses that achieve a rating of 100 percent in the CEI also earn a spot in HRC’s “Buyer’s Guide,” which indicates companies, products and services that support LGBT workplace inclusion.
The Cornerstones of CNA Social Responsibility
Corporate and Employee Giving
With more than 7,000 employees in approximately 70 offices across the globe, CNA has a longstanding tradition of supporting local nonprofit organizations that work tirelessly to improve the quality of life in our local communities, including organizations that are important to our employees and our customers. CNA also supports the personal generosity of our employees by matching employee contributions to qualified nonprofit organizations – dollar for dollar – up to $5,000 per year.
Diversity and Inclusion
Diversity and inclusion are vital components of CNA’s culture and day-to-day business. We strive to create a culture in which there is an affirmative acknowledgement that our people matter and that each individual is critical to our success.
CNA views a culture that enables our diverse employees to thrive as a benefit to individuals, teams, the company and our customers. Employee networks are making CNA even stronger. To learn more or connect to one of our networks – African American; Asian American; Hispanic; Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT); and Women – email us at SocialResponsibility@cna.com or follow CNA on social media to learn more.
Our employees are as passionate about giving their time in support of nonprofit organizations in their communities as they are about building a profitable and successful business. They express this commitment by participating in a wide array of volunteer activities, including charity walks, home renovations and other community service projects.
Just as CNA and our employees are committed to helping our customers sustain their businesses, we are equally committed to helping sustain our planet's most important resources. Beyond supporting organizations financially, sustainability takes many forms at CNA, and green practices have been a part of our day-to-day operations for many years. We also have an aggressive "good practice" campaign in CNA offices worldwide, which includes recycling reminders and a variety of energy-efficiency tips.
