Due to flooding in July 2017, Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner has declared Cook, Kane, Lake and McHenry counties as state disaster areas. In response to the declaration, the Illinois Department of Insurance issued Company Bulletin 2017-03 requesting that insurers implement certain safeguards to protect Illinois policyholders affected by the flooding. To comply with the bulletin, CNA is withdrawing cancellation or nonrenewal notices issued on or after July 12, 2017 on any in-force policy issued to an affected policyholder or respecting affected property. In addition, CNA will not issue any new cancellation or nonrenewal notices to affected policyholders or for affected property until September 30, 2017, or a later time if deemed reasonable given an individual circumstances. CNA is granting affected policyholders an extension of a minimum of 60 days beyond any time period required by the policy, for the submission of any claim or proof of loss; any submission of bills or information related to claims; and for any repairs on affected property that cannot be completed within the required time period under the policy.
