CNA Earns 100 Percent on 2017 Corporate Equality Index for LGBT Workplace Equality

CHICAGO, Dec. 5, 2016 — CNA today announced it has received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2017 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation, for the second consecutive year.

Businesses that achieve a rating of 100 percent in the CEI are recognized as one of the "Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality" and also earn a spot in HRC's "Buyer's Guide," which indicates companies, products and services that support LGBT workplace inclusion. The effort to earn this perfect score is led by Pride@CNA, CNA's employee network made up of LGBT and straight ally employees.

"We are proud to have earned a perfect score on the 2017 Corporate Equality Index for the second consecutive year, as it affirms our belief that we are an organization that truly recognizes LGBT-inclusion in the workplace," said Liz Aguinaga, Chief Human Resources Officer, CNA. "Years ago we recognized the significant value of supporting and serving all of our employees, customers and business associates – with no exceptions. Pride@CNA continues to influence a work environment that values everyone and connects to the diverse communities where our employees and customers live and work."

The 2017 CEI rated 1,043 employers in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, transgender-inclusive healthcare benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBT community.
