Mike joined CNA in 2005 as chief financial officer for its property & casualty business. In that role, he was responsible for support to CNA's Standard Lines and Specialty Lines segments, Field and Distribution Operations, European Operations and CNA Surety; as well as management information systems. He assumed his current position in May 2009.

Prior to joining CNA, Mike was with Sears Holdings Corporation, where he served as Vice President and Treasurer with responsibility for corporate finance, capital markets and cash management. He also led the company's efforts in risk management, mergers and acquisitions, and investor relations. Previously, Mike served as Group Vice President of Finance at Schering-Plough.

He is a Certified Public Accountant with a bachelor's degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois and a master's degree from Northwestern University's J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
