CNA Insurance
Community Support

Corporate and Foundation Giving
Like many other insurance carriers, CNA realizes that doing good in the community makes sense for its business partners, existing employees and potential ones. With 7,600 employees in 36+ offices across the county, CNA and the CNA Foundation have a longstanding tradition of supporting local nonprofit organizations that work tirelessly to improve the quality of life in the communities where CNA employees live and work.

The CNA Foundation concentrates its support primarily in programs designed to:

  • Meet the education needs of children
  • Assist and support children, youth and adults in developing vocational skills
  • Support economically disadvantaged children and families

CNA provides support for charitable organizations through the CNA Foundation, corporate contributions, in-kind services and employee volunteerism.

Employee Involvement
CNA employees find many meaningful ways to positively engage in the communities where they live and work. Through CNA and the CNA Foundation, employees have:

  • Rolled up their sleeves to rehab homes and community centers through Rebuilding Together
  • Served as chaperones for Starlight Children's Foundation's proms and other special events for chronically ill children
  • Assisted U.S. military personnel through the 'home away from home' outreach of the United Service Organization (USO)
  • Participated in numerous charity walks and runs countrywide for causes important to them, their families and friends
  • Served on boards and shared their individual talents in accounting, communications and human resources, just to name a few

Matching Gifts Plan
The CNA Foundation's Matching Gifts Plan supports the personal giving interests of employees by matching their contributions to qualified nonprofit organizations - dollar for dollar - up to $5,000 per year.

Foundation Grants and Guidelines
The CNA Foundation Guidelines concentrate support primarily in programs designed to:

  • Meet the educational needs of children
  • Assist and support children, youth and adults in developing vocational and education skills
  • Support economically disadvantaged children and families

Foundation grants are available only to U.S.-based organizations which are tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Before applying for a grant, please review the CNA Foundation Guidelines.

As you might imagine, we get many more requests for support than we can honor with the limited resources available. However, if you still would like to request funding, please complete an an application. Please note, the CNA Foundation will request full proposals only from those organizations that best align with the Foundations' goals, budgetary guidelines and funding criteria. Requests for funding are accepted year-round.

Community Involvement Grant Awards
The Community Involvement Grant (CIG) Awards program enables CNA's field leadership to play a more visible role in local communities through civic and charitable involvement. Only employees of CNA, its subsidiaries or affiliates may submit an application for a CIG award.

If you are a CNA employee based outside the U.S. please review the Non-U.S. CIG guidelines (PDF, 47kb), complete the application form (PDF, 44kb) and have the charitable organization complete the Affadavit Packet.
